The Indian tennis-elbow

A series of melodramatic events brought up by world ranking players. As a common citizen, I find it extremely absurd to hear that two respectable world class players finding it difficult to talk out openly and solve the difference in opinion. Its a shame for the country when at crucial moments, we land up in such confusion. The media has been pouring in different flavours of the statements made by AITA officials, Bhupati's father, Pae's father and Ministers.

Even if the two players cannot play together due to various inexplicable reasons, I personally feel that they should have settled this off without bringing it to the limelight.  AITA should have intervened long ago, sorted out conflicts, fix number of teams going for the Olympics and name them.

Now even if the two players have some how conceded to play, I would not be surprised if they do not perform well. Because, a huge amount of co-operation, team-play, adjustment and of course player compatibility is need to deliver a superior performance. Apparently the two players seem to be "like-poles" repelling each other. Although Paes has said he is ready to play with any player allotted by the AITA, there has been a lot of ill-will spread around amongst the people, associations and the players themselves that we all can see where exactly this is going to.

Perhaps, with seeding rising high, our players have forgotten the true meaning of "Sportsman Spirit". Every sportsman young and old should remember the Golden rule of sports as
"Treat the people you play with and against as you'd like to be treated yourself. Keep that one simple rule in mind, and you'll always be looked upon as an athlete who understands and honours the rules of sportsmanship."
